It’s the 27th of December. Christmas has been celebrated around the world and in a few days’ time we’ll be raising our glasses to welcome in the new year.
What better time to practise the future perfect passive voice?
I’m in a cold and rainy part of the UK, but being stuck inside only gives people more opportunity to eat and drink over the long Christmas and New Year break, doesn’t it?
Between the 1st of December and the 1st of January, just in the UK, over 250 million slices of turkey, individual roast potatoes and sprouts will have been consumed, swiftly followed by more than 150 million portions of Christmas pudding. More than 350 million glasses of wine will have been drunk and at least 200 million boxes of chocolates will have been opened.
That’s a national achievement of a sort, I suppose. But what about you? What will you have achieved by the end of 2023?
